The Circular Economy of Polystyrene

Its main applications are single-use products, such as yogurt cups, cutlery, containers, cups, and lids for disposable cups.
Expanded Polystyrene
Known in Mexico as “unicel”, it is used as a container for food, hot beverages, and in takeaway food services, as its insulating properties help preserve food temperature.
This material, like other single-use applications, has very low recycling rates due to the limited recovery and reuse of contaminated post-consumer waste.
